Commissions

Painting the animals people remember.

I take commissions for pet portraits, memorial pieces, and zoo animal portraits, always the same way, whether the subject is still here or not. These aren't quick likenesses. I spend time with the photos and the stories you send me until the piece actually looks like them, not just an animal that resembles them.

If you've lost an animal you love, or you just want them seen the way you see them, this is where it begins.

How it works

  1. Book it. Reach out and tell me about the animal, pet, memorial, or otherwise. A 30% deposit gets us started.
  2. Review as we go. I'll share drawings along the way so you can make sure it's headed where you want.
  3. Lock it in. At a certain point, the piece is finished and no further changes are made, this keeps the process moving and the final piece honest.
  4. Take it home. The remaining balance is due once the piece is complete.

I’m Amanda.

For 32 years I worked as a zookeeper and animal care provider, which sounds like a job title but was really an apprenticeship in humility. I learned that fish have personalities, that plovers have something like a 50-word vocabulary, and that the animals we think we understand are, mostly, still strangers to us. Now I have the privilege of representing my experiences through paint and writing.
