The Matriarch 2 ; The Elefriends - Original Artwork - Watercolor

This painting was inspired by watching the elephant ex-orphans at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust who have returned to the wild and are now raising their own babies together with their chosen wild herd. I am fascinated by how the whole herd works together regardless of wild born or hand-raised, and how the wild herd will even include the keepers who raised them as part of their herd. They will often bring their wild born babies back to the stockade to visit and introduce the new ones to their human family. A portion of the proceeds from every painting I sell goes to adopting orphaned elephants at SWT in Africa and giving them a fighting chance to survive. If you have not already done so, please visit The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and meet the orphans and their caregivers.
