Cock of the Rock

$150.00

This original 5” x 7” watercolor and ink illustration on paper depicts a Columbian Cock of the Rock, painted with permission from a photo Nancy Allen took on her latest trip to South America. They get their name from the nests they build in the rocks and on ledges. (Get your minds out of the gutter. ) it is the males of the species who have the bright plumage used to attract a mate. The females are a dull brown to better blend into the rocks, as they are the sole providers and protectors for their chicks.
